Conductor Fabien Gabel’s 2018-19 season continues to establish him as one of today’s fastest-rising international conductors, with seven conducting debuts around the world, including his highly-anticipated debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The season begins with a tour around France, Romania, and Switzerland with the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, where Gabel continues to inspire a new generation of young performers as Music Director for a second season.
Returning for his seventh season as the Music Director of Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Gabel will conduct Borodin, Stravinsky, and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Lise de la Salle in the opening night program. Other highlights from Orchestre Symphonique de Québec’s season include Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde featuring Marie-Nicole Lemieux and Michael Schade, Schumann’s sole piano concerto performed by Ingrid Fliter, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, and a performance with soprano Lisette Oropesa.
The conductor continues to lead major orchestras across the United States, making his Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut conducting Bartók, Debussy and Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with Emanuel Ax, and with returns to the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Milwaukee Symphony.
Gabel’s European engagements feature debuts with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, Vienna’s Tonkünstler Orchester, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and Warsaw Philharmonic, as well as welcome returns to the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine, engagements at the Philharmonie de Paris with the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France and the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, and with the Danish National Symphony Orchestrafeaturing an accordion concerto with soloist Bjarke Morgensen.
Outside of Europe and the United States, Gabel makes debuts with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmania Symphony, and returns to the Seoul Philharmonic.
